How Paracetamol Works
Paracetamol works by blocking the production of prostaglandins in the brain and spinal cord. Prostaglandins are chemicals released by the body in response to illness or injury, and they cause pain and fever. By reducing prostaglandin production, paracetamol effectively lowers temperature and relieves mild to moderate pain.
Unlike NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, paracetamol does not reduce inflammation, making it gentler on the stomach and suitable for a wider range of patients.
